As of late, there have been a variety of accounts regarding medical issues in relation to faulty hip replacements. Serious side effects have become prominent following the surgery for hip replacement mechanisms. Because of the escalating number of cases, the manufacturer of these products have issued a recall. If you have received a hip implant from Johnson and Johnson’s DePuy Orthopedics, you could be at risk of developing serious side affects. There have been a steady increase of lawsuits, liability claims, and DePuy hip class action suits due to these mechanisms since the recall in August.
If you or someone you know has recently undergone hip replacement surgery, and has received an implant from DePuy, you should be aware of the side affects that are related to a faulty mechanism. In many cases, individuals have reported severe pain, infection, inflammation and swelling, and damage caused to the tissue and bone in the immediate area. These side affects are often due to the critical flaw in the implant’s design, that causes metal to grind against metal, and produce debris inside the patient. As a result, these toxic particles prevent the mechanism from correctly growing into the bone, and in turn causes the body to reject the implant. Because the affects are so intense, some cases have been forced to have the implant removed, leaving them with the inability to walk while waiting for a replacement.
If these symptoms are familiar to you, you are in your legal right to pursue action and receive compensation due to this recalled implant. Many individuals just like you have suffered, regarding both their health, and their finances.
Two specific conditions that result in patients with a faulty DePuy ASR hip unit are ALVAL (asceptic lymphocyte dominated vasculitis associated lesion), and pseudotumors ( a soft, non-cancerous tumor). Both of these conditions develop due to the toxic metal fragments deposited by the metal on metal grinding of an ASR implant. Sometimes, the ASR device can loosen, causing the ball and socket of the hip implants to become dislocated. In rare cases, when the implant becomes loose, it can fracture the surrounding bone. Any patient with a hip replacement who experiences pain, swelling, and difficulty walking should contact their orthopedic surgeon to find out if they were implanted with one of the recalled DePuy ASR units.

I received a left femoral head replacement with a Moore prosthesis on 11/29/2009 and am experiencing difficulties, including walking, climbing stairs, pain, swelling. I would like to know more about the Moore prosthesis.

Prior to above-I was an energetic-active-full productive life, pt time counsellor and voluntary organization activity, devoted to family activities, with a minor arthritic condition
was told by surgeon-I would fly through proceedure-with my only apprehension being anaesthitic proceedure, and was replacement necessary when x-rays showed-mildly degenerative. For seven years I have been battling our ACC-Medical Misadventure Unit in NZ-all because I listened to the surgeon’s brief speil that I DID NEED this proceedure. Our Life as known-was stolen overnight in an elective proceedure where mistakes were made-but no acknowledgment of mistakes”’were forth coming- scans did not show the acute damage -thought to be ‘overuse retractors’ whilst excessive leg lengthening.followed by fall in hospital bathroom. Spent my life savings trying to ‘remedy the wrong, and fight the system. Maybe NOW
Justice will be seen to be done. Support group I run, indicates (too many) in this same position and have gone unlistened to and thrown on the scrap heap. I had a hip replacement July 2007,they built a metal cage around the protheies and pelvis.i have a lot of symptons so I have asked for cobalt and chromiun blood tests.I dont know what my hip replacement is but it is clear and looks to be metal in the xrays.I have a large soft tumour on my hip and if you touch it you can feel the metal cage underneath.not sure what to do about this I am due to haave an op as the cage is irritating my leg so is affecting my walking where do we go from here
I have had 4 hip replacements and the last one my droctor broke my femar bone where the spike goes down your leg and I have severe swelling and numbness all down my leg and my groan area hurts so bad that I can’t hardly stand or even walk because it hurts so bad ,I can’t sleep laying down I have to sit down my doctor had to put 12 inch cadaver bone in and the only way she could get it to hold was to wire it with 6 looks like baling wire to hold the cadiver bone and I can feel the bone moving when I walk or stand on it I would like to no what I need to do to file a judgement for this it has been about 2 1/2 years since I had this procedure done and my dr left town and moved to another town after I had the survey done I seen her for my first visit after I had my 30 days of therapy and I dons have a doctor now because I can’t find a doctor that will seer since I had this surgery please help me to find out what I need to do to get a case filed for this please help me
Had a hip replacement iin 2006 and just found out its completely gone.metal on metal..is this a faulty hip…I’m devastated
