I am in high school, I have had troubles with my shins during track season. They normally go away after I stop running. Two days ago I went running in a wilderness park for about 20 minutes. The next day everytime I walked I had great pains in my shins. I also had them today. I have track practice starting on monday, what should I do?

Can shin splints be caused but excess walking? I am almost 62 and have been powerwalking for 15 years. I walked 750 miles last year and am shooting for 800 this year. I do the M.S. walks every year. That is now 30 miles in 2 days. It use to be 50 miles in 3 days. I've not had a problem except for a stress fracture in my right foot in 2005. Right now I'm experiencing pain in my right bone about 3 inches below the knee. Sometimes when I'm sleeping the pain is real sharp. Could the be shin splints. I doesn't hurnt when I'm walking any more than when I'm not. Thank you for any help that you can give me.
