Basic Information About Microdermabrasion

before and after microdermabrasion procedure

If you are interested in getting rid of scars, microdermabrasion is a procedure that can be used to bring life into your skin and remove marks left from scars. Not only that, it can also help in reducing black heads, infected abscesses, pimples, cysts and a range of other problems.

The process is very simple and short, as the treatment is performed on the top layer of dead skin which is removed using aluminium oxide or sandblasting.

A sandblasting technique is performed using a small thin line device that sucks the dead skin after the blast. The plastic surgeon controls this process and the patient is required to cover his or her eyes with goggles.

The treatment is usually painless and would last for almost 30 minutes on the face and may go up to hours if it is performed on the neck or upper chest. A total of 4-8 sittings are usually required within 1 to 2 weeks. This procedure has to be done at a clinic. There can be a little irritation and a slight burning sensation during the treatment, which could stay for few hours and after that the area may go pink in color for a day or two.

It is also known as “lunch time peel”, as it takes so little time to apply and needs no hospitalization and is a safe treatment.
